A lot of people, when looking to buy a new fishing setup, will buy a combo deal. This is great, but often these aren’t the right rod and reel pairing. Other times, you may just want to upgrade your old Baitcaster Rod to something that has better flex, spring, stiffness, eyes, length, etc.
Whatever the reason you need (or want) a new bait caster rod, you should be able to find what you’re looking for among the list of Best Baitcaster Rods that I have put together.
So, What Is Baitcaster Rod?
Unlike spinning rods, the line guides on baitcasting rods won’t be as large because baitcasting reels release the line a little straighter. Durability is a major concern because stiff or fragile line guides can snap if mishandled, or during a hard fight. A good quality Baitcaster Fishing Rod will alleviate these problems.
You can waste your time going to different sites, stores and company’s looking for the right rod. In this post, I hope to save you time (and money) by listing the best baitcaster rods I have come across, and all the features you need to know before you decide on your next purchase. I have even added my recommendations for a good pairing for each rod if you are New Reel As Well.

Shakespeare UglyStik GX2 comes in a variety of sizes, so there is something for everyone and every fishing adventure. You can choose between 5’6″, 6 “, 6’6”, and 7′ lengths. Not only that but stiffness between Medium-light up to heavy for the big boys, with a choice between 1 and 2-piece configurations.
Of course, if you’re putting a baitcasting reel on, you want something around the 6.6 to 7 foot, 1 piece in a medium to the medium-light range. It is great to have these options of course. I have two UglyStiks, one for baitcasting and one for the boat when on the reef.
All UglyStiks are made with a combination of graphite and fiberglass, making them not only strong but light, very flexible, and sensitive to bite and fight. This makes them nearly unbreakable. UglyStik has been my go-to rod for years and will be for years to come.
